Sommerszene drums its way into the cultural summer

Afro-American sounds got the premiere audience on Tuesday evening at the Szene Salzburg into raptures.

The Sommerszene dance and performance festival kicked off on Tuesday evening with not just one drumbeat, but dozens. The sounds of Afro-American drums sent the dancers whizzing back and forth at breakneck speed on the stage at Szene Salzburg. The Portuguese Marco da Silva Ferreira was responsible for the literally breathtaking choreography of the piece "Carcaça".

The head of the Winterfest circus festival was delighted: "I'm very interested in dance. Who knows, maybe we can learn something for our Winterfest," joked Robert Seguin. In any case, he had an intensive exchange with Sommerszene director Angela Glechner on site.

But it wasn't just familiar faces from the cultural scene who made an appearance on Tuesday evening. Trumer brewery boss Seppi Sigl was also enthusiastic: "The summer scene is a fixed date for me every year."

The evening was rounded off at the after-show party with DJ Nelsoniq.

This year's Sommerszene will take place until June 16, 2024.
