Motorcycle collided with car – biker dead

Unfortunately, all help came too late for the 30-year-old man from Innviertel! The motorcyclist died on Tuesday evening on the L101 near Obertrum (Salzburg). His bike crashed with full force into the car of an 81-year-old man. The pensioner had previously driven his car out of a driveway. 

The 30-year-old from the Braunau district was traveling from Obertrum towards Elixhausen at around 6 pm. According to initial police information, the 81-year-old drove his car out of a driveway onto the Mattseer Landesstraße at the same time. The motorcyclist was apparently unable to avoid the car, resulting in a violent crash. 

Car driver was sober
The biker was thrown from his vehicle and died at the scene of the accident. An emergency doctor was unable to help him. The car ended up badly damaged in the ditch. The driver suffered injuries and was taken to Salzburg Regional Hospital by the Red Cross. A breathalyzer test carried out on him showed 0.0 per mille.

Autopsy ordered
During the recovery and clean-up operations, the emergency services had to completely close the L101 in the area of the accident. There were delays. The expert Gerhard Kronreif arrived on behalf of the public prosecutor's office. He investigated the exact course of the accident. Both vehicles were seized. An autopsy of the motorcyclist's body was also ordered.
