Aiming for her first World Championship medal on foreign soil

Stella Hemetsberger has won everything there is to win in kickboxing. The Salzburg native is now also active in Thai boxing. However, she is still missing a world championship medal in this "new" sport. She has her sights set on this at the upcoming World Championships in Greece.

This year's Thai boxing world championships will take place in Patras. It will be Hemetsberger's first visit to the Greek city. "I hope I don't have time to visit it. Because that would mean I've come a long way at the World Championships," laughs the 25-year-old kickboxing world champion.

In the 60 kg category, only a medal counts for her. "It's a knockout competition right from the start. A lot depends on the draw, it can be over quickly. But my clear goal is a place on the podium." 

Women's power in the national team
Her biggest Thai boxing success to date is European Championship bronze. She has yet to win a precious metal at a world championship. She will be coached by the Austrian national team at the event. "We are a larger group and this year there are even more women than men. There will certainly be plenty of fun." The tournament starts for Hemetsberger either on Saturday or Sunday.
