Instead of having her own track, Valentina Cavallar now has to elbow her way out and fight for position. The 23-year-old Viennese once rowed at the Olympic Games, but has now made the switch to the bike - and immediately rode into the limelight at her first major tour, the Itzulia!

"I felt good and thought: why not? And then I just pedaled as fast as I could," smiled Valentina Cavallar. Last week, she delivered a strong display of talent at her debut on the UCI Cycling World Tour at the Itzulia Women in the Spanish Basque Country, taking the mountain jersey on the first stage and defending it on the second.
