Viennese in bathrobe tried to bite dog

The Vienna police had to be called out in Währing on Saturday evening because a heated argument had broken out due to a dog barking too loudly. A 43-year-old man in a bathrobe threatened a dog owner with biting her four-legged friend.

The suspect had felt disturbed by the dog's barking in Türkenschanzpark and began to argue with the dog owner. He then made dog noises himself and threatened to bite the animal. When a 27-year-old man intervened to settle the dispute between the two, the 43-year-old suddenly pulled out a knife and threatened to kill the passer-by, reported the provincial police headquarters.

Other people subsequently became aware of the altercation. The Austrian then fled from Türkenschanzpark to Gregor-Mendel-Gasse. There, the police finally arrested the 43-year-old at around 9pm. The pocket knife was also seized, explained spokesman Markus Dittrich. During questioning, the suspect stated that he had felt threatened by the group. He was released.
