The 66-year-old grandfather ran over his two-year-old grandson with a wheel loader on his own farm in Kirchberg/Donau on Saturday. An entire village is now in shock - the relatives have not yet been interviewed by the police. The pain over the loss of the little boy is immense. Now the whole town is pulling together.

The horrific accidental death of little Roland overshadowed the Mother's Day celebrations in the 1,100-strong community of Kirchberg ob der Donau on Sunday. After the tragedy the day before, the mood among the inhabitants of the village was very thoughtful and sad. "Here, the Mother's Day roses are wearing a mourning flag," said Mayor Franz Hofer, summing up the situation.
