After a hit-and-run
Police officers from two countries chased drunk driver
His intoxicated actions kept the police authorities of two countries busy, namely Bavaria and Upper Austria: a 63-year-old man had demolished a telephone pole with his car while drunk and unfortunately lost a license plate in the process. The Austrians tracked down the culprit, the Bavarians are now prosecuting him.
Shortly after 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, the Rohrbach police received a report that a telephone mast in Wührhügel, just after the border in Germany, had been knocked down and the person responsible for the accident had driven off, according to the Bavarian police. An Austrian license plate from a Citroen car was found at the scene of the accident, so the Austrian police officers carried out a search at the owner's address.
Significantly intoxicated
It was established that a 63-year-old driver of a Citroen car, who was heavily intoxicated, left the road on his way home at around 7.30 p.m. and drove into the telephone pole. The 63-year-old then drove away from the scene of the accident in his car. The accident caused property damage amounting to 3,500 euros. The Hauzenberg police are now investigating the person responsible for the accident for endangering road traffic - due to alcohol and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident.
