Stöger: “Rangnick doesn’t need this for his ego!”
ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick confirmed contact with Bayern Munich on Wednesday, but will the 65-year-old German accept the job as Tuchel's successor? Sky expert Peter Stöger says: "No!" Because he doesn't need to raise his market value. "He doesn't need that for his ego."
"I don't believe and hope that he will leave," said Stöger. "We have a big tournament ahead of us. Everything is working well and I hope we are successful at the EURO. I have the feeling that he likes being there, that he's enjoying it with the boys. "
But what if he does leave, will Peter Stöger become team manager, asks Sky presenter Constanze Weiss. "I can't imagine that," laughs the former Cologne and Dortmund coach. "If Rangnick were no longer team boss, the ÖFB would have to ask me and I would have to think about it. But the issue won't arise. Because I believe that he will stay."

Stöger continued: "Of course, Bayern Munich is a big story. But with everything I've heard in the last few months, I have the feeling that the job is really good for him and that he wants to show what's possible with Austrian players, especially in Germany. It's a cool story for everyone, of course, but he doesn't need to raise his market value. He's a successful coach, he doesn't need that for his ego. So I think he'll stay and I hope we play a decent European Championship "
