Tired and on drugs: Driver (27) caused an accident

On Tuesday, an Afghan was driving his small truck on the Fernpass route under particularly dangerous circumstances. This ultimately ended fatally near Breitenwang.

At around 10.50 a.m., the man was driving the small truck on the Fernpass road in the direction of Germany. In the municipality of Breitenwang, he crossed into oncoming traffic for reasons that are as yet unexplained and hit the side of an oncoming car driven by a 74-year-old local man.

The driver of the car also drove into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car driven by a 29-year-old Italian.

The 74-year-old driver and his 71-year-old wife (passenger) were seriously injured. The woman was taken to Reutte Hospital by the ambulance.

In the course of the accident investigation, it was suspected that the driver of the small truck was not fit to drive.

Accident driver was examined more closely
In the course of the accident investigation, it was suspected that the driver of the small truck was not fit to drive. During the subsequent medical examination, the driver was found to be unfit to drive due to the use of narcotics and medication and fatigue. As a result, the driver's license was temporarily revoked.
