Title fights in Idre
Ski cross rookie chasing World Championship medal today
"The course is absolutely brilliant and if I hit everything well, a lot is definitely possible," says Vorarlberg ski cross racer Leonie Lussnig optimistically ahead of today's decision (12.30 pm livestream) at the Junior World Championships in Idre Fjaell (Sd).
"We're racing on the same course here that was used for the World Cup final," says the 18-year-old. "Only a few small things have been changed and so it's technically very demanding and not that easy to hit." It was unclear until the very end whether the lateral entrant would even be able to compete at the World Championships.
World Championship start wobbled until the end
For a long time, it was unclear whether the Oberland native would be able to take part at all. "I had injured my back, but I got the green light the day before I left and I'm currently managing the pain well," said the Kästle skier, who has taken two podium places in the European Cup this season.
