Canteen closed
Cockroach infestation in the Moroccan barracks!
The market office of the City of Vienna showed up unannounced at the Moroccan barracks in the third district on Thursday. Cockroaches were reportedly spotted during the food inspection. The canteen was closed for the time being.
The Vienna Market Office carries out around 21,500 unannounced food inspections per year. If protection is not guaranteed, the canteen is closed. This time it was the canteen of the Moroccan barracks in Vienna, a police barracks where officers are also trained.
"Several days"
According to Market Office spokesperson Alexander Hengl, such a lockdown could easily last "several days". This is because the pests naturally have to be combated first.
Although Hengl could not confirm the cockroach infestation, he did admit that the market office had been deployed to the barracks in question on Thursday.
A cockroach was discovered in the course of serving food.
Polizei Wien
The Vienna police confirmed the pest infestation in the afternoon: "A cockroach was discovered in the course of serving food." As a result, the canteen was closed by the operator himself and pest control was initiated. The police also assume that the canteen will be able to reopen soon.
