Oliver Glasner has put a real damper on Jürgen Klopp's farewell tour at Liverpool. Glasner's team Crystal Palace won 1:0 (1:0) in the first Premier League clash between the two soccer coaches at title contenders on Sunday. Liverpool are two points behind champions Manchester City after their third competitive game in a row without a win. 

Liverpool had recently lost the lead in the table to Arsenal with a 2-2 draw at Manchester United. After the 3-0 defeat in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Atalanta Bergamo, they now suffered another bitter defeat at home. The golden goal for Crystal Palace was scored by Eberechi Eze (14th minute), who was completely free after a pass from Michael Olise. A short time later, Liverpool's Andy Robertson prevented the 0:2 by clearing a shot from Jean-Philippe Mateta on the line (18).

Reds in bad luck
Liverpool had a shot on target through Wataru Endo (27). Curtis Jones missed the Reds' best chance after the break on the counter-attack (75'). At the other end, Alisson, who had returned to the Liverpool goal after a long injury lay-off, made a brilliant save from Mateta at point-blank range (74').

Crystal Palace celebrated their first win against Liverpool since 2017 or 13 unsuccessful attempts. It was Glasner's second full success as a coach in England after a 3-0 win on his debut against Burnley at the end of February. Since then, there had been two draws and three defeats under the Upper Austrian. With the coup in Liverpool, the Londoners increased their lead over the relegation zone to eight points with five rounds to go. They have also played one game less.
