Christina Stürmer is back after a long break - loud and yet with much quieter tones than usual. She made a stop in Salzburg as part of her "Unplugged" tour.

She is Austria's most successful pop artist, has sold almost two million records to date - and is now on a par with cult bands such as Nirvana, Oasis and Die Toten Hosen. Christina Stürmer was the first German-speaking singer ever to play an "MTV Unplugged" concert. The special thing about the legendary series? The musicians do without any electric instruments and play their well-known hits in a completely new guise. The concert can then be seen on the music channel MTV - and bought on recordings.

Stürmer performed two evenings at the Volkstheater in Vienna last summer. The concerts were so successful that the 41-year-old is now touring Austria and Germany completely "unplugged". For almost four years, the Linz native made herself scarce, did not perform on stage and did not release any new music.

Her return to the limelight has been all the more successful. Many of her concerts have been sold out for some time now. Yesterday, Thursday, fans tried to somehow get hold of remaining tickets at the entrance gates before the start of her guest performance at Szene Salzburg - to no avail. The almost 800 visitors in the hall were treated to a veritable firework display of hits. "Ich Lebe" was just as much a part of the show as "Millionen Lichter" or "Scherbenmeer".

This Friday, Stürmer will be back on stage at Szene Salzburg. Tickets for this are - guess what - no longer available. . .
