104 Salzburg companies filed for insolvency

The insolvency statistics for the first quarter of 2024 are available. In Salzburg, both more companies and more private individuals filed for insolvency compared to last year. The Windhager group of companies was particularly hard hit. 

1777 applications to open insolvency proceedings were filed by companies across the country. Salzburg accounted for 104 of these, which represents an increase of +11.83 percent compared to 2023. Austria-wide, the figure even increased by +31.92 percent. 

55 of the 104 applications were finally opened in Salzburg. This corresponds to a decrease of -9.84 percent. In the country as a whole, however, there was a new high (+35.02 percent).

The largest insolvencies in Salzburg concern the Windhager group of companies. In the proceedings of Windhager Zentralheizung Technik GmbH and Windhager Logistik GmbH alone, claims of 32.14 million euros and 42.29 million euros respectively were recognized. The insolvencies also affect 479 employees. 

Above the average
103 people filed for personal insolvency in Salzburg. This represents an increase of +9.57 percent compared to last year. This is above the Austrian average (+7.46 percent). The average debt of the applicants was 90,800 euros. Most of the insolvency cases are between 40 and 59 years old.
