Son tended to injured father, but he died

A father and his son were making fence posts together in Carinthia, but then a terrible accident occurred. The 14-year-old provided first aid and the emergency services were quickly on the scene - but the 45-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries.

On Saturday afternoon, father and son were working on the tilting table saw in the municipality of Reichenau: they were cutting fence posts from larch wood. Suddenly, a piece of wood was thrown backwards by the rotating saw and hit the 45-year-old's body with full force.

His 14-year-old son immediately administered first aid and alerted the emergency services. The police officers who arrived shortly afterwards took over the first aid measures until the medically trained emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident.

The RK1 rescue helicopter team flew the seriously injured man to the hospital in Klagenfurt, where he succumbed to his serious injuries.
