In the regional league
Top teams drop points
Neither Austria nor FC Pinzgau picked up three points in the Regionalliga West on Saturday. Despite taking the lead several times, Maxglaner only managed a 3-3 draw at home against a good Grünauer side, while Saalfelden had to make do with a 1-1 draw at Reichenau.
The 1500 spectators watched an entertaining Salzburg derby at the Max Aicher Stadium in Maxglan on Saturday. Austria and Grünau gave each other nothing and ended up with a fair 3-3 draw, with Maxglan getting off to the better start - Zottl and Schwaighofer gave them a 2-0 lead. However, the Walsers managed to equalize before the break after captain Pertl scored from a set piece.
After the break, Feiser made it 2:2 just seconds after the break. Although Zottl put the home side ahead again, the visitors came back and Nika made it 3:3. In the end, the score remained the same. "We were really good in the first half. But then we didn't manage to bring the win home," summed up Austria coach Schaider. Wals coach Knaus was proud of his squad: "The way we came back was outstanding."
Pinzgau not dissatisfied
FC Pinzgau fell behind after three minutes in Reichenau. The Tyroleans scored an own goal to equalize. Coach Schützinger was not dissatisfied with the point: "Things are looking up, we'll get even better in the next few games."
Leaders confident, problem children shine
In the Salzburg league, however, everything remains unchanged. Kuchl had little trouble with penultimate-placed Anif, but only scored late on to secure a 3-0 win. "But we had everything under control," said a satisfied coach Tom Hofer. His team remains eight points ahead of closest rivals Seekirchen. Meanwhile, Siezenheim and Henndorf achieved important victories in their fight against relegation. Siezenheim won 2:0 against their regular opponents Puch (no defeat in seven duels) thanks to Sturm's free-kick and Mühlbauer's counter-attack, while Henndorf celebrated their first win since October against Gollinger, who are currently despondent - also 2:0.
