Drawing the line
Automatically saved draft
Chiara Mair draws a line under it! Just a few hours after the retirement of her ÖSV teammate Elisa Mörzinger, the 27-year-old Tyrolean is also ending her career.
After Chiara Mair had to end the season in January 2023 due to a head injury that she had already suffered in 2019 and which has severely restricted her ever since, the ÖSV athlete has been undergoing ongoing therapy and maintenance training. She has since been on skis several times. However, for therapeutic purposes or as compensation - and not as race preparation. Now she has made a decision about her future: Mair is ending her career.
"Success is knowing that you've given your all and can go to bed with a clear conscience because you've made your little self so incredibly proud," writes Mair in her emotional Instagram post. "Thank you for skiing, for all the happy moments of success and fulfillment. But even more, thank you for guiding me through low points, for making me strong and wiser and for showing me many instructive perspectives on life and people."
New passion after "fun ride"
It has been a "fun ride": "It has made me the strong, sensitive and aware person I am today." In any case, she is now pursuing her newfound calling and hopes to be able to help some people and animals with her experience. With energetic and spiritual treatments.
