Crazy Pep appearance
Guardiola: “I am the famous person of the team”
Starting coach Pep Guardiola has made a remarkable appearance to vent his frustrations following the setback suffered by defending champions Manchester City in the English soccer championship. "I do it for the cameras, for my ego," the Spaniard replied full of sarcasm when asked why he was still reprimanding his players on the pitch after the game.
"I'm the famous person of the team. (...) I need the cameras so that I can go to sleep with incredible satisfaction. That's why I always criticize the players there and make them feel how bad they are," the coach continued at a press conference on Tuesday, one day before the league game against Aston Villa.
Man City dropped two points in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Arsenal in the top-of-the-table clash. The Champions League winners now lie third in the title race, three points behind leaders Liverpool, and also have the worse goal difference. After the game against Arsenal, Guardiola gesticulated wildly on the pitch and gave instructions to his players.
Star striker Erling Haaland was also mentioned in Guardiola's remarkable speech. "If Erling scores three goals, I want the compliments and he shouldn't get them," Guardiola continued.
