Gauff and Swiatek knocked out in the round of 16

While Carlos Alcaraz can continue to dream of the "Sunshine Double" after beating Gael Monfils 6:2, 6:4 in the third round, Iga Swiatek's dream has already been dashed. The world number one from Poland, who like the Spaniard had triumphed in Indian Wells, surprisingly lost 4:6,2:6 to the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in the round of 16 in Miami. US Open winner Coco Gauff has also already been eliminated.

The American, seeded No. 3, lost 3:6, 6:1, 2:6 to the resurgent Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia.

Prominent spectators
Alcaraz, on the other hand, is still on course. He had his problems with the still very agile Monfils, but also with the spectators in a positive sense: soccer star Neymar, Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler and former Grand Slam champion Juan Martin del Potro watched the Spanish world number two. "It's a bit difficult to stay focused when such legends are watching you," the 20-year-old admitted later.
