Turbo beer in Salzburg
Marco Pogo at the Rockhouse: lots of punk, no politics
The very first words made it clear where the journey was heading. "Do you really think that we've lost our shit", Turbobier frontman Dominik Wlazny aka Marco Pogo bellowed at his fans in the sold-out Rockhouse during the opening number "D.U.R.S.T". Although the medical graduate and punk musician wants to stand in the upcoming national elections with his beer party, this was not an issue at the Salzburg guest appearance of his punk combo.
Instead, the Viennese musicians unwound a veritable firework display of rock on Friday evening. In addition to well-known classics such as "King of Simmering" and "Arbeitslos durch den Tag", they also played songs from their latest album "Nobel geht die Welt zugrund" - including one or two boozy slogans. In between, frontman Pogo even let himself be carried across the Rockhouse hall on an inflatable plastic island, with a beer in his hand as befits his status.
After a good 90 intense minutes, it was over. The audience demanded another encore. But Marco Pogo countered with a wink: "After an hour and 40 minutes, it's considered work. Thank goodness we're still just under that."
