NFL quarterback makes guest appearance at the champions’ home opener
You can get a taste of real NFL air in Donaufeld on Sunday. NFL quarterback Justin Fields, last season with the Chicago Bears, and Christian Wilkins from the Miami Dolphins will be coaching a camp. The reigning domestic champions Danube Dragons kick off the new Austrian Football League season on Saturday. With more than just one goal in mind.
"We have two missions this year - in the Austrian Football League and in the Central European Football League," says Alex Thury, quarterback of football champions Danube Dragons.
The Dragons kick off the season on Saturday (2 p.m., Donaufeld) with a home game against the Raiders Tirol. On the sideline will be Philipp Haun as receivers coach, who will then play for the Tyrolean franchise in the European League of Football (ELF). "The first two Dragons games are off, which makes me happy," then the 29-year-old will have to concentrate fully on his commitment in the ELF again.
In the European CEFL competition, the team from Danube City is seeded fourth and will start against Florence or Belgrade on May 11. The two imports should help them to do as well as possible there and to win their third title in a row in the domestic league. Left tackle Dennis Kenzler (D) and US boy Steve McShane, who can be used as a receiver or running back.
On Sunday (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) you can get a taste of real NFL air at Donaufeldplatz. Justin Fields, quarterback of the Chicago Bears last season, and Christian Wilkins, defensive tackle of the Miami Dolphins, will be running a camp. Spectators are welcome.
