Focus on Dedic
Bulls worry about the perennial favorite
Amar Dedic is normally a regular starter for soccer champions Salzburg. However, he has been rested recently due to slight muscular problems. Now he is with the Bosnian national team and the Bulls must hope that he returns healthy. A column by "Krone" sports editor Philip Kirchtag.
Ten Bulls traveled to their national teams after the 5:1 against Hartberg. Among them was Amar Dedic. The Bosnian all-time great (2470 minutes on the pitch so far this year) found himself on the bench at the start on Sunday, having recently suffered a slight muscular complaint. "We didn't want to take any risks, which is why Amar was initially left out," said coach Gerhard Struber, explaining the decision.
After his substitution, however, there was no sign of any discomfort. Dedic was very active and also provided an assist. "I think you can see that I'm fit," he said afterwards.
However, Salzburg are probably not entirely confident and are worried about the health of the defender. Last week, Dedic and sporting director Bernhard Seonbuchner had a conversation about this. The boss made it clear that the 21-year-old will only be allowed to play for his country if he is completely pain-free. One thing is certain: Dedic is determined to play, because Bosnia still have a European Championship ticket at stake. To do so, they need two wins - Ukraine await on Thursday. "A highlight game for me," he emphasized.
The Bulls have to hope that everything goes well. A loss of the right-back would be brutally bitter. Because: Leandro Morgalla is still unavailable and Flavius Daniliuc is better off at right-back.
