"Firmly determined"
Céline Dion wants to return to the stage despite illness
Singer Céline Dion wants to play concerts again despite suffering from stiff person syndrome.
"Overcoming this autoimmune disease has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but I am determined to get back on stage one day and live as normal a life as possible," the 55-year-old wrote on Instagram on Saturday to mark a day of action to raise awareness of the disease.
"Grateful for the love"
She also posted a photo of herself with her three sons. "I am very grateful for the love and support of my children, my family, my team and all of you," the singer continued.
Stiff person syndrome
Dion announced some time ago that she had been diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder. She suffers from muscle spasms and sometimes has problems walking and singing as a result.
Her diagnosis is stiff person syndrome. Stiff person syndrome (SPS) is a rare neurological disorder characterized by progressive stiffness of the muscles and painful cramps.
SPS is a chronic disease that cannot be cured. However, treatment can alleviate the symptoms and improve the quality of life of those affected.
Planned appointments canceled
The "My Heart Will Go On" singer had therefore canceled all dates of her "Courage World Tour" in Europe planned for 2023 and 2024.
The musician announced in January that she would be recording her fight against her illness in the documentary "I Am: Céline Dion". Shortly afterwards, she caused a surprise with her performance at the Grammys.
