Auinger versus Dankl
Who is the better mayor for Salzburg?
Will Salzburg go communist from now on or will a social democrat govern? The two candidates Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ) and Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus) gave each other no quarter in the debate with Conny Bischofberger at Mirabell Palace before the decisive run-off election. Krone+ is rebroadcasting the interview shortly before the election: make up your own mind.
It starts off very amicably. "Kay", as Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger calls his 15 years younger challenger from the KPÖ Plus, arrives by bike at the magnificent Mirabell Palace, the future mayor's official residence. Just so that the two don't fall into each other's arms downstairs, next to the Pegasus Room.
"Of course" it is okay for the KPÖ star if the red-dark red double interview takes place upstairs "in Bernhard's office", in other words with a home advantage for the election winner. Auinger was narrowly ahead in last Sunday's municipal elections with 821 votes. Then the two friendly spectacle wearers sit opposite me, each a major hurdle for the middle-class voters. The only question is which shadow they are more likely to jump over in the run-off next Sunday. Because one of them will win.
