After twelve years in the Spanish capital, Luka Modric is set to leave Real Madrid in the summer - opening up the poker game for the Croatian. Two Turkish city rivals, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, are reportedly already vying for the 38-year-old.
According to the Turkish sports newspaper "Fotomaç", the two clubs from Istanbul are both interested in Modric, with the report claiming that both clubs are prepared to offer the midfielder a one-year contract. Modric is set to earn 3.5 million euros in the Süper Lig.
Talks are pending
The 2018 Ballon d'Or winner is said to be considering a move to Istanbul. Modric has many friends in the Turkish metropolis and initial talks with Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are due to take place next week.
The 172-time Croatian team player has been under contract with Real Madrid since 2012 and has won the Champions League five times with the Whites, as well as two cup titles and three Spanish championship titles. In the current season, however, Modric is no longer playing a major role under coach Carlo Ancelotti, with the club icon having to sit on the bench in most games for the time being.
