Injured during test
Shock for new signing from Austria Salzburg
Western League leaders Austria Salzburg ensured a clear result in Saturday's test match against Salzburg League side Puch. However, the Violets will probably have to do without their next new signing for a long time.
That's bitter! After new signing Luca Schmitzberger tore his cruciate ligament a few weeks ago, Austria Salzburg will have to do without another player for a long time. Sebastian Voglmaier, who moved from Hallein to Maxglan in the winter, twisted his ankle in a test match against Salzburg League club FC Puch (4:0) and tore a ligament. The attacking player will be out for around eight weeks.
"Of three top new signings, two have been seriously injured without foul play," says coach Christian Schaider, who can't really believe it. The injury fits in with the "difficult past few weeks" that Austria has been going through recently. In addition to the aforementioned absences, several players were unable to take part due to illness.
Lack of rhythm
This is another reason why the leaders of the Western League, which starts in the spring in two weeks, have not yet found the necessary rhythm and have room for improvement. "We have to create more chances and need more pace. That's a challenge for all of us together," says Schaider.
