Man hit by rock slab while working – dead
Mourning reigns in Breitenau am Hochlantsch in the Grazer Bergland: late Tuesday afternoon, a work accident occurred at a mining company. A man (50) died.
According to the police, the 50-year-old worker was busy covering blast holes when the dramatic accident occurred. The man was on a working platform when a slab of rock suddenly came loose and hit the victim in the upper body.
Fell several meters from the platform
The force of the slab caused the Styrian man to fall several meters from the working platform to the ground, suffering fatal injuries. He died at the scene of the accident.
"The possibility of third-party fault can be ruled out", the Styrian Provincial Police Directorate announced on Tuesday evening. The circumstances of the accident are to be clarified by the labor inspectorate on Wednesday.
