Start of the "Steirerkrone" series: We present former Styrian governors on the occasion of the provincial elections. We start with Waltraud Klasnic. Among other things, she explains how she reinvented herself.

It was a bitter farewell. Young socialists marched with torches to Karmeliterplatz in Graz, the seat of the provincial ÖVP, and reviled the election loser. The "Landesmutti" had nothing to counter an election campaign full of insinuations, the toxic cocktail of millions in subsidies for a noblewoman and intra-party trench warfare. All she could do was cry and resign.
