They were riding on the rear tire, speeding and very loud: A moped driver (15) and a motorcycle driver (16) attracted the attention of the police in Thalgau, Salzburg, on Friday. The plainclothes patrol pulled the drivers out of traffic. Their vehicles were not suitable for road traffic.

A plainclothes patrol was out and about in Thalgau in the evening, heard loud engine noises and saw two young drivers on a moped and a motorcycle. The moped rider (15) was riding on the rear wheel.

The police officers checked the two and also examined their two-wheelers. They discovered that the moped had been tuned to 94 km/h - the speed limit is only 45 km/h. A control unit and an unauthorized carburettor had been installed. The throttle on the engine was no longer there, the brake light was defective and the rear-view mirror was missing.

The moped was also too loud: instead of the permitted 83 decibels, the officers measured 93. The 16-year-old's motorcycle even reached 101 decibels (79 is permitted) because the soundproofing was missing. His brake light also no longer worked.

The young people were no longer allowed to use their two-wheelers. Their license plates and registration certificates were confiscated due to "imminent danger". They must expect to be charged.
