Musk grants EU insight into the X algorithm

Following the EU Commission's request to X to hand over internal documents on the algorithm, Elon Musk's platform has provided answers. X responded within the deadline regarding the changes to the algorithm and provided additional evidence, said a spokesperson for the Brussels authority. The Commission will now examine this carefully.

In January, Brussels pushed ahead with proceedings against X and demanded access to internal documents on algorithms. The company was instructed to freeze and retain the relevant data. The instructions were issued due to an ongoing investigation against X.

The EU has been monitoring Musk's activities for some time. Several proceedings are underway against X for alleged violations of the Digital Services Act (DSA). The aim of the proceedings is to check whether the platform complies with the regulations on curbing hate speech and disinformation.

The DSA is considered a sharp sword against the influence of large platforms. If platforms do not comply, they face severe penalties - including fines amounting to six percent of their global annual turnover. The EU Commission can also impose daily fines until problems are rectified.
