The fuss about smartphones
Is a cell phone ban for pupils legally permitted?
How long are children and young people allowed to go out, when can they start drinking alcohol and do they have to be contactable on the school ski course? In some secondary schools in Carinthia, for example, there is a "total ban" on cell phones at school events, which is not only met with joy by children and parents and raises the question of whether this is legally okay.
The protection of minors is a sensitive issue - not least because the rules are different in every federal state! What a Viennese child is allowed to do, a Carinthian teenager is far from being allowed to do. The two Carinthian lawyers Gudrun Wiener from Spittal and Gregor Horn from Klagenfurt answer current questions on the subject. They also clarify the proportionality of a "total ban on cell phones" in schools!
