Helper smashed the car window and rescued the driver

A car stopped in the middle of the road on the Tauernautobahn on Monday afternoon: The driver had suffered a medical emergency. A driver following behind became the first responder, other road users helped with the rescue until the professional rescuers arrived.

At 1.45 p.m. on Monday, a 45-year-old man from the district of Spittal suffered a medical emergency on the Tauernautobahn in the Altersberg area. He was able to bring his car to a standstill, but was no longer responsive.

A following driver (36) smashed the side window and was able to rescue the 45-year-old from the vehicle with the help of other road users. Red Cross staff provided first aid and the RK1 rescue helicopter team flew the man to Klagenfurt Hospital.

The Tauernautobahn was closed in the area of the Trebesing underpass in the direction of Villach.
