Burglar turned out to be a raccoon

After residents of a house in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate found their home in an animal-like mess after a Christmas visit, they alerted the police. They caught the "burglar" in the act!

The Germans' house had been vandalized during their absence - so much so that they suspected that burglars had been up to mischief during their Christmas visit. However, the police were quickly able to clear up the case.

"Masked perpetrator" was caught
"The masked perpetrator wearing black gloves" was still at the scene of the crime, the police wrote in a statement, according to Stern. The "burglar" was a raccoon that had apparently entered the house unnoticed.

However, the act had no consequences for the cheeky intruder. According to the police, the raccoon was caught by a hunter and released at a suitable location.
