“Heart pulsating very fast”: worries for Norwegian athlete

Four-time biathlon world champion Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold is struggling with cardiac arrhythmia and has to take a break for the time being. "My heart suddenly starts pulsing really fast," says the biathlon ace, describing her recent racing experiences. The Norwegian will also not be competing next weekend in Tyrol.

After leaving Kontiolahti, Tandrevold initially gave the all-clear to "TV2". She is now well again, emphasized the multiple World Championship medal winner. But her recent experiences have left their mark. 

"It was a shame to have another bad experience," said the Norwegian, who had already struggled with heart problems in the 2021/22 season. "I was a bit nervous and scared. It's a bit annoying when you realize that you can't control it. The heart pulses very quickly and then I have to find my rhythm again," explains Tandrevold.

How long will she be out?
The 28-year-old is now under medical observation. "We are in contact with a cardiologist to discuss the next steps," says Aasne Fenne Hoksrud, doctor for the Norwegian women's biathlon team. For Tandrevold, it is now important to "get plenty of rest and recovery after these episodes of palpitations".

The Norwegian will therefore certainly not be competing in Hochfilzen. It is not yet clear how long she will generally be out of action.
