Young driver killed in crash

According to the police, there was a fatal traffic accident near Leppen in the municipality of Bad Eisenkappel in the early hours of Thursday morning. The father of the family was killed. Three fire departments were deployed. The shock in the community runs deep.

A tragic traffic accident occurred on the L130 Luscha Straße at around 5.40 am on Thursday. The man coming from the district of Völkermarkt was traveling in the direction of Eisenkappel. "Near Leppen, municipality of Eisenkappel-Vellach, he left the road on the right for unknown reasons. The vehicle is likely to have overturned several times and finally came to a halt on the right-hand side of the road, lying on its roof," the police report. 

All help came too late
According to the police, no other vehicles were involved. The vehicle was a total loss. The father of the family, who recently celebrated his 33rd birthday, was also involved in various clubs. Despite a rapid rescue chain, all help came too late for the man. The Red Cross and emergency doctor as well as the Bad Eisenkappel, Rechberg and Miklauzhof fire departments assisted in the operation. 

Deep shock throughout the community
The firefighters of the Bad Eisenkappel fire department, of which Christian had been a member since he was 16, are also deeply saddened: "It is with great shock and dismay that we lost our esteemed comrade HFM Christian O. in a traffic accident today. (...) Dear Ose, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your tireless commitment to the fire department and to the community. The memory of you will always remain in our hearts."

Perchten group in shock
The Perchten group in Bad Eisenkappel expresses its deepest sympathy: "Thank you for the many things we were able to experience with you - thank you for your willingness to be part of our group - thank you for your friendship," it says in its Facebook post. Due to this tragic accident, the upcoming parade on Saturday in front of the municipality of Bad Eisenkappel has been canceled.

The whole town is in deep mourning and shocked by the unexpected death of a valuable member of the community.
