I admit, I'm one of them. As soon as I'm standing at a bus stop or in a queue or sitting in a waiting chair, I do what everyone else does: I reach for my cell phone. Not because I'm expecting an urgent message or because I might have missed an important call. And not because I urgently need to send a message. But rather: to pass the time. And the information I then consume is intellectual fast food of the worst kind.
