Austria’s typical unemployed person: that’s him!

Young and male: these people are most likely to be affected by unemployment.

Unemployment in Austria stood at 6.6 percent in September. No cause for panic yet for Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs Martin Kocher. Krone+ took a look at who is particularly affected by unemployment and found the typical Austrian unemployed person.

At 6.6 percent, the unemployment rate in Austria is low compared to other countries. Nevertheless, we should always strive for better figures. Because the trend is going in the wrong direction. For example, the rate has now risen twice in a row compared to previous years (see chart). Krone+ delved into the data jungle to find out in which area of Austria the most unemployed people live.
