Cyclist hit by car, thrown through the air

Fatal accident on Thursday evening in the Tyrolean Außerfern: A cyclist (38) was hit by a car while crossing a road. Due to the force of the impact, the woman was thrown through the air and then onto the road, where she lay seriously injured on the verge.

The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. in the municipality of Musau. The 38-year-old German woman wanted to cross Reuttener Straße (L69) on her bike to get to the Ranzental cycle path.

Head-on collision with a car
"This resulted in a head-on collision with the car of a 29-year-old local woman," reported the police. The cyclist was first thrown against the windscreen and then several meters through the air by the violent impact. "She lay seriously injured on the side of the road", the investigators continued.

Driver suffers severe shock
The German woman was first treated at the scene of the accident and then flown to the hospital in Kempten by the emergency helicopter "RK-2". The driver of the car was uninjured but suffered severe shock.
