All-clear after the drama surrounding Lamecha Girma: the world record holder, who fell heavily in the 3000 meter hurdles at the Olympic Games, is on the road to recovery. A first photo from the hospital has now been published.

It was a horror fall. The world record holder from Ethiopia stumbled over a hurdle on the last lap and landed hard on the track.

He lay motionless before the medical team carried him off on a stretcher.

He was immediately taken to hospital. Eabise Negese from the World Athletics Federation posted a photo of the unfortunate man on Instagram.

"Lamecha Girma is on the road to recovery. The Ethiopian Olympic team visited him in hospital," he wrote on his post. News that lets Olympic fans breathe a sigh of relief ...
