Wrong-way truck journey repeated two hours later

The emergency services could only shake their heads: Within a short space of time, a Bulgarian truck driver made two wrong turns near Steinach am Brenner. There was considerable damage to property.

The 69-year-old Bulgarian driver first caused a stir on Thursday at around 9.20 am. The police were alerted and found the truck and semi-trailer between a concrete wall and a house. The truck was recovered by a towing company at around 11 a.m.

Then came the surprise: just over two hours after the first mishap, at around 11.40 a.m., another witness came forward. He had observed a truck driving towards a narrow road in Steinach, near Erlach. When the patrol arrived, the same truck was found at the junction of Trinserstraße and Maraucherbergstraße. The Bulgarian was no longer able to turn his heavy vehicle around or drive on.

Fences, wall and house damaged
In the course of driving there, the 69-year-old had damaged three wooden fences, a stone wall and the edge of a house. The towing company had to come again and recover the truck with heavy equipment. Charges follow.
