Five stork chicks at once is very rare. In the Lower Austrian district of Amstetten, the lively offspring have now led to a rescue mission by the fire department.

The firefighters in Euratsfeld in the district of Amstetten once again showed a big heart for animals and saved three young storks from certain starvation.

After the mother of the stork couple nesting on the tower of the Schneider joinery had to be euthanized due to an injury, the fire department rushed to the scene to carefully remove three of the five stork half-orphans from the nest.

Five young at once is rare
The reason for the operation: it was impossible for one parent to feed five young alone. The babies were wrapped in soft cloths in a large box and taken to the bird of prey station in Haringsee, where they are now being raised. Dad stork then returned to his two little ones in the nest.
