Woman sent 100,000 euros to love scammers

The next cases of internet fraud are keeping the cyber investigators of the Salzburg police busy: a 75-year-old woman lost 100,000 euros to fake love, an 81-year-old man put 40,000 euros into dubious crypto platforms.

And it has happened again: A fraudster slipped into the role of an Italian project manager for a woman from Salzburg and faked true love. They met in January and communicated via several channels. And the fraudster managed to get the woman to regularly send him money via a payment service provider - a whopping 100,000 euros in total. Only now did she go to the police.

The police also reported a crypto scam: a man from Flachgau (81) lost 40,000 euros on various trading platforms.
