1183 dead have found their final resting place

An old cemetery was discovered during the construction of the new 3rd Medical Ward on the grounds of the state hospital. Now all the skeletons have been recovered and reburied.

The two chaplains Caroline Kremshuber and Alexandra Kunstmann-Hirnböck bid farewell to the 1183 dead in a solemn ceremony at the Salzburg municipal cemetery.

In a year's time, a memorial will be erected at the grave of the reburied skeletons. A competition is being held at the sculpture school in Hallein. Until then, a wooden cross will commemorate the deceased.
