“Days or weeks!” Freund vague in Rangnick case
The sporting director of FC Bayern Munich, Christoph Freund, kept a low profile in the Ralf Rangnick case on Tuesday evening ahead of the German record champions' Champions League first leg against Real Madrid. Indeed, the man from Salzburg was not even able to give precise details on the timing of Rangnick's decision.
When asked who the new FCB head coach would be and when this would be announced, the man from Salzburg said in an interview with Sky: "In the next few days, in the next two or three weeks, I think we'll be able to announce something."
Rangnick supporter
Like sporting director Max Eberl, Freund is an absolute Rangnick supporter. It is rumored that the current ÖFB team boss has a contract ready to sign with Bayern until 2027 and that the ÖFB can expect a transfer fee in the mid-single-digit million range.
Eberl recently hinted that the die could be cast on Wednesday. Freund did not want to confirm either that or the other. "I can't say for sure, so I'll leave it open for now. But certainly not tonight."
