Storm peaks over 100 km/h in Austria

A storm is currently sweeping through numerous valleys as well as the mountains. Geosphere Austria has already registered wind speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour.

A storm is battering large parts of Austria. The Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics has already issued a wind warning for Burgenland, Lower Austria and Styria. Almost 110 km/h were measured in Gumpoldskirchen (Lower Austria). In Tyrol and Salzburg, it is even snowing more than that.

Vienna also stormy
At Brunnenkogel, also in Tyrol at 3437 meters above sea level, winds peaked at 106.6 km/h. Buchberg in Lower Austria at 460 meters above sea level (106.2 km/h), the Viennese Jubiläumswarte (450 meters above sea level, 101.9 km/h) and the Rudolfshütte in Salzburg (2317 meters above sea level; 100.1 km/h) also recorded three-digit wind peaks.

Wind speeds of well over 80 km/h were widespread. These included the Hohe Wand, Wiener Neustadt, Melk and the Hohe Warte and Innere Stadt measuring stations in Vienna.
