Sprayer confesses
Convicted for graffiti Mozart on the train
The Salzburg Regional Court convicted sprayers who left their works of art on two trains of the Salzburger Lokalbahn. The public prosecutor's office charged two more sprayers.
Five young men between the ages of 19 and 28 sit in front of the judge in the provincial court on Thursday - for graffiti on two trains of the Salzburger Lokalbahn: in addition to artists' names, the young men also sprayed a Mozart on the train - with a long nose and a peace sign. All of them admit to having taken part in the colorful joke at Lamprechtshausen station on the night of January 24th. "I'm sorry" can be heard from all five of them in the courtroom. "He didn't think about the damage that would be caused here", one of the defense lawyers explains about his client. A representative of Salzburger Lokalbahnen spoke of around 12,000 euros of damage in the witness box.
Two of the five sprayers were sentenced to fines of 480 and 1320 euros, three received diversions - they have to pay amounts between 480 and 600 euros, then the criminal proceedings are discontinued. What they all have to pay: 500 euros each in restitution.
Charges against two sprayers from Wals
Two other sprayers from Wals (17, 18), who caused much more damage, will have to explain themselves in court on April 19: for serious damage to property. Florian Weinkamer from the public prosecutor's office speaks of 69 cases and damage amounting to around 86,000 euros.
