KPÖ Plus wants to fix the housing portfolio
Kay-Michael Dankl's first political meeting with Bernhard Auinger is scheduled for today. It will be about the distribution of portfolios in the new city government. And although the two have known each other from the municipal council for five years, this will be the first conversation between mayor and deputy mayor.
The affable Dankl is aware that he will need a good basis for discussion with Auinger in the coming years. "The mayor has very powerful instruments when it comes to finances and personnel. We will need Bernhard Auinger in many areas in order to make progress on the issue of affordable housing," says the prospective city deputy Dankl to the "Krone".
It is quite possible that Auinger and Dankl will already agree on a rough allocation of portfolios today. The SPÖ leader has already promised the KPÖ Plus the housing portfolio. This will open doors for Dankl. "Affordable housing is of course a topic close to our hearts. It's also the issue that Salzburg residents are most concerned about," says the 35-year-old.
Possible discussions about the social department
In addition to a restructured housing department, Dankl is also looking at the social welfare department. "We've already come up with a lot of good ideas there in the last five years," he says. There will probably be a need for discussion here, as Auinger has already announced that he wants to leave Andrea Brandner's (SPÖ) social welfare portfolio unchanged.
