Ski flying in Planica
Serious fall overshadows ski flying in Planica
Scary moments on Saturday at the ski flying competition in Planica: Italian Giovanni Bresadola crashed after a strong jump in the team competition and was left lying in the outrun. Information on his state of health is not yet available. And that was not the only scary moment during the ÖSV eagles' victory.
After his great flight to 226 meters, Bresadola suddenly felt unsteady when landing - resulting in a wild fall.
"Of course you don't like to see something like that"
Bresadola had to be transported away by akja. "We are aware of the risk. But of course you don't like to see something like that," said ÖSV eagle Daniel Tschofenig in the ORF interview. When he was transported away, the Italian at least gave a thumbs up and made the fans cheer. Let's hope that the ski jumper didn't suffer too badly.
US-Boy and Zajc also fall
Shortly before, US boy Decker Dean had already been hit, and a few moments after Bresadola, Slovenia star Timi Zajc was also lying in the snow: the local hero crashed after his 242.5-metre flight and then limped out of the outrun.
Austria wins
On the sporting side: In the end, victory went to the red-white-and-red Eagles. It is the third team success for the ÖSV team this season. Due to the wind conditions, there was only one run. The lead over the Slovenians was 10.5 points in the end. Norway followed in third place, 33.2 points behind.
