Motorhome ran over eight-year-old girl’s foot

A tragic accident occurred on March 18 in the town of Eggenburg in the Waldviertel: a little girl was riding a scooter on the sidewalk, hit a mobile home and fell. The rear tire of the vehicle then ran over her foot.

Terrible scenes occurred on Monday at around 2.55 pm in the Waldviertel town of Eggenburg. A girl (8) was riding her scooter on the sidewalk in the direction of the elementary school. She steered to the right and wanted to use the crosswalk in front of the traffic circle to cross the road.

At the same time, a 76-year-old man from the Hollabrunn district was driving his motorhome on Pulkauerstraße in the direction of the traffic circle. The eight-year-old hit the motorhome as it was passing the crosswalk and fell. Apparently unnoticed by the driver at first, he drove on, causing the rear tire of the mobile home to run over the girl's left foot. 

After first aid at the scene, the little girl was taken to hospital with injuries. The driver of the camper van stated that he had not noticed the girl.
