Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. has revealed the secret of his happy marriage.
The "Oppenheimer" actor has been married to producer Susan since 2005 and has children Exton (12) and Avri (9) with her. Despite their Hollywood careers, the stars manage not to be separated for too long.
The couple are convinced that this is the secret of their happy marriage. They would never be apart for longer than two weeks.
"Two-week rule"
In an interview with "People", the 50-year-old explains: "We have a two-week rule, which often feels too long, but we're never apart for more than two weeks without seeing each other and having the family together. Fortunately, we prefer to be a traveling circus when we can."
Sometimes it's hard to actually follow through on this resolution, he says. "You stick to the basic rule of two weeks, and then you try not to think too far ahead because so much of what we do is unpredictable. You just never know. Someone could get sick, or there could be a plant closure, or this or that," Susan described.
The US-American is glad that she is not an actress like her husband. "The good news is that I'm not in front of the camera, so I'm a little more flexible as a producer in terms of locations and where I have to be," she explains. "I admire couples who both have to be in front of the camera and I have a lot of sympathy for them because you're stuck and you have to make those decisions."
